Marianne (Benedict) Lisowski

December 11, 1936 — January 22, 2014

Marianne Benedict Lisowski of Green Bay, WI, formerly of Middletown, NJ, passed away at the Jack and Engrid Meng Residence of Unity Hospice in De Pere on January 22, 2014. Marianne was born and raised in Fracksville, PA. She was the oldest of four children, born to Charles C. and Jeanette Gregonis Benedict. She graduated from Immaculate Heart Academy, Ashland, PA. Marianne got her teaching certificate from East Stroudsburg State Teacher College, East Stroudsburg, PA, and her Masters in Science from New Jersey Institute of Technology, Newark, NJ. While attending East Stroudsburg, Marianne met her husband, Joseph. Upon graduation they moved to North Arlington, NJ. There she worked for RCA of Harrison, NJ. After moving to Middletown, NJ, and the birth of her two sons, Steven and James, Marianne began a 30 year career as a Middletown High School Chemistry teacher. As a teacher she inspired many students. She set the bar high, knowing if one does not reach the top rung, one still achieved far more. Marianne loved to read. Her favorite topic was history especially the civil war. She loved facts and calling out the answers to Jeopardy. She loved animals, especially her little Nikki, traveling, and cooking. Shopping was a life’s vacation. Marianne is survived by her two sons, James of Green Bay and Steven of Littleton, CO; her three grandchildren, Cameron, Clayton and Kendall, all of Green Bay, and Janet, her daughter-in-law. She is also survived by her sister Kathleen and her husband Charles Wardell of Wall, NJ, her brothers: Charles of Carolina Shores, NC and Allen and his wife Joey of Egg Harbor Twp, NJ. There are also three surviving sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law, all of Carbondale, PA. Marianne had many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 12:00pm until 1:00pm on Saturday, January 25 at Resurrection Catholic Church, 333 Hillltop Drive, Allouez. A prayer service will be held at 1:00pm Saturday with Sheila Deluca officiating. Entombment in Allouez Mausoleum. There will be a memorial service for Marianne this summer in NJ. Cotter Funeral Home is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Marianne’s name to the Bellin Cancer Center, 1580 Commanche Ave, Green Bay, WI 54313 or the Bay Area Humane Society, 1830 Radisson Street, Green Bay, WI. The family would like to thank and extend their gratitude to the following: Dr. Kelly Lynch, Dr. Amy James, Dr. Linehan and Dr. Hari (Milwaukee, WI). They also want to thank the following people who took such gentle, tender care of Marianne: The Bellin Cancer Center, the Unity Hospice Center and the many nurses and medical staff at the Bellin Hospital. Also Renee and Michaeleen for your friendship towards our mom.
