Margot C. (French) Smith

July 21, 1933 — March 17, 2018

Margot Campbell French Lemmen Smith, age 84, of Bellevue, passed away Saturday, March 17, 2018 at the Meng Residence of Unity Hospice. The daughter of the late Melville and Florence (Campbell) French was born July 21, 1933 in Green Bay. She was a graduate of East De Pere High School in 1952 and on April 25, 1970, married Robert Smith. In addition to being a part-time caretaker of Lily Lake Park with Bob, she ran the Lily Lake Sportsman Club concession stand and tended bar at Keith’s in Bellevue. Margot was also a member of the VFW Post 9677 Auxiliary and enjoyed visits to Hawaii, caring for animals and was a kind and caring person.

She is survived by her husband, Bob; children: Susan (Tom) Renier, Virginia (Steve) Reinke, Steven Lemmen, Linda Lemmen and Wesley (Laura) Lemmen; step-children: Sam (Margie) Smith, Dan (Brenda) Smith, and Deb Divell; grandchildren: Eric (Debbie) Renier, Melanie (Curt) Ferrier, Joshua Kadletz and Joe Hutson; sister Marcia (Steve) Rienow; several step grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, brother-in-law Dr. Edward Orman, sister-in-law Marlene French, other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Walter, Kenneth “Mex,” and Muley; sisters: Mary (Bill) Lynch and Mildred Orman.

Family and friends may visit at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N Webster Ave, De Pere, on Thursday, March 22, from 9:00am until the time of service at 11:00am. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, De Pere.

A memorial fund is being established for the Humane Society in Margot’s name.
