Margaret "Peggy" Carlson

July 22, 1956 — November 21, 2013

Margaret “Peggy” Butterfield Carlson, 57, De Pere joined her dad in heaven unexpectedly on Thursday, November 21, 2013. On July 22, 1956 Peggy was the 3rd of 6 children born to Cliff and Wannie Butterfield. She spent her childhood in Green Bay before moving to the Chicago area with her family. Peggy was a 1974 graduate of Elk Grove Village High School in Illinois. In the spring of 1986 Peggy moved to Washington State and lived in the Seattle area and enjoyed success in the travel industry as a travel agent. On September 6, 1993 she married Michael Carlson of Seattle in Green Bay. Peggy and Mike enjoyed their time on the West Coast, but was always a Midwest girl at heart. In 2009, Peggy moved back to De Pere to be closer to her family. She had a deep love for her family and was especially proud of all her nieces and nephews, many of whom were her Godchildren. “Aunt Peggy” was always the one the kids could count on for entertaining stories and a hug. Peggy enjoyed spending time at the beach and at the family cottage in Door County. She had a passion for gardening and caring for her plants. If there was a family get-together, you could always count on Peggy for a good game of poker as well. As she would say, “Deal Me In….Suckers.” She had a passion for music, especially classic rock. She was also an avid Packers fan. Peggy loved to collect antiques and was proud of her Victorian collections. Peggy will be deeply missed by her husband Michael and his children Sean and Kristen; her mother Wannie Butterfield of De Pere; her sister Shelly Bennie (Tom) and their children Mike Neville (Brooke), all of De Pere, and Rich Bennie, Minneapolis; her sister Jayma VanStraten (Dan) and their children Matt, Chris and Lauren, all of De Pere; brother Dennis Butterfield (Cindy), Little Suamico, and their children Joe Butterfield and Erin Butterfield (Kent Krueger) and their children Mason and Chance, all of Green Bay; brother Tom Butterfield (Suzanne), De Pere, and their children Brenton Butterfield (Bill Curtis), Madison, WI and Brianna Nowak (Bill) and their daughter, Charlotte, of De Pere; brother Chris Butterfield (Diane) and their children Morgan and Claudia, all of Liberty Township, OH.; mother-in-law Rose Ringhoffer; brother-in-law Larry Carlson (Connie) and their children Shane, Ryan and Kristina; sister-in-law Sylvia Herschburger (Bill) and their children Heidi and Steven, all of Washington State. Also surviving Peggy is her Godmother Aunt Virge Gruselle (Ron), Green Bay and many aunts, uncles, cousins and wonderful friends. And finally missing Peggy deeply are her beloved Golden Retrievers, CJ and Lambeau, the true pride and joy of her life. Preceding Peggy in death was her father Cliff Butterfield, who she sadly missed, and father-in-law Steve Ringhoffer, her grandparents and special aunts and uncles. Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at Resurrection Catholic Church, 333 Hilltop Dr., Allouez, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. with Bishop Robert Morneau officiating.
