Margaret Hockers

Margaret Hockers, 103, De Pere, passed away peacefully Friday, September 30, 2011, at Rennes Health Care Center. Margaret was born in to a family of eleven children to the late John Vercauteren and Nellie Kleuskens on July 3, 1908. She was a resident of De Pere her entire life. Margaret married Norbert Hockers on August 28, 1934 at St. Boniface Catholic Church. During her married years, she was an active member of St. Matthew Catholic Church in Allouez and then later joined St. Mary Church in De Pere. Margaret enjoyed playing cards with her card club of almost 50 years and especially time with her family at the cottage in Fayette, Michigan. Margaret is survived by her daughter, Sister Charlene (Carol); her son, Charles (Karen), both of De Pere. She is further survived by three grandchildren, Debra (Joe) Sule, Carol (Jim) Mellas and Norbert (Sue) Hockers; and six great-grandchildren: Michael, Makayla and Matthew Mellas, Joseph Sule II, and Keira and Matthew Hockers. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and special friends, Dave and Lola Daniels and their family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norbert in 1961, an infant daughter in 1945, her brothers and sisters, her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, and many friends. Family and friends may call Tuesday, October 4, 2011, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave., De Pere, where there will be a Parish Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of Mass at St. Mary Catholic Church, 4805 Sportsman Drive, Ledgeview. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at church, with the Rev. Richard Getchel and the Rev. John H. Harper concelebrating. Interment will be in Allouez Catholic Cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cotterfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established. We are grateful for her special care-givers during her last months spent at home and want to extend a special thank you to Rennes Nursing Home and Heartland Hospice.
