M. Muriel (Campbell) Martin

M. Muriel Martin, 91, of De Pere and formerly Greenleaf, was reunited with Our Lord on February 19, 2013 with family present. Born the daughter of the late John and Mabel (Nies) Campbell on May 23, 1921 in Morrison, she attended Wrightstown High School and Kaukauna Normal School. She married the late Leon J. Martin on June 20, 1944 and they raised their family on a farm in Greenleaf. She taught first and second grades at St. Mary Catholic School in Greenleaf for many years, retiring in 1983. She was well loved by all who met her, and many of her former students continued to visit her up until her death. She enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, reading, golfing, bowling, and visiting with her many friends and relatives. She is survived by children Kathleen (Larry) Detrie, Karns City, PA, Daniel Martin, Redford, MI, Mary Pat (Peter) White, Springfield, VA, Kenneth Martin, Green Bay, and Jean (Michael) Ritter, Scottsdale, AZ; grandchildren Terry Detrie, Eric Martin, Tony Martin, Erika Snook, Andy Martin, Bridget White, and Kara Martin; and great-grandchildren Matthew Detrie, Owynn Martin, and Henry Martin; and daughter-in-law Cathy (the late Jerry) Martin. Muriel was preceded in death by her husband Leon, sons James and Jerry, and a brother John Robert. Family and friends may call at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave, De Pere, from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a parish prayer service at 7:30 pm on Thursday February 21. Visitation will continue on Friday from 9:00 am until the hour of Mass at St. Clare Parish-St. Mary Site, 2218 Day Street, Greenleaf. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Friday, with the Rev. Bob Kabat officiating and Rev. Dennis Bergsbaken concelebrating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
