Lynn M. La Plant, 71, De Pere, passed away Thursday, August 2, 2012 at the Jack and Engrid Meng Residence of Unity Hospice, with her family by her side. She was born August 28, 1940 in Green Bay, daughter to the late James and Cecile (Haevers) La Plant. Lynn graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy, class of 1959, received her Bachelor’s in Literature and Humanistic Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, and a Master’s of Library Science from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Lynn retired from the Brown County Library in 1995, and later worked at various bookstores in Tucson, AZ, where she co-owned the Reader’s Oasis bookstore. Upon returning to Wisconsin, she worked at Somewhere In Time Antiques in Green Bay. She also was an active volunteer at the Brown County Library within the Local History and Technical Services Departments and with the Give-A-Kid-A-Book campaign. Lynn was a passionate reader. She especially enjoyed traveling and camping. Lynn loved going to new places, meeting new people, and making new friends. She also enjoyed old movies and antiques. She will be deeply missed by her two daughters: Becky (Haeny) Stevens and her husband, Marc; Mindy (Haeny) Everard and her husband, Brian; three grandchildren: Katie, Maddie, and Logan; one sister, Suzanne Hoppock and her husband John; sister-in-law, Judy Berg and her husband, John; Godmother, Mary Margaret Heilmann; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Lynn is further survived by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Bob and Betty Haeny, Gus and Suzie Haeny, Sue and Mike Whalen, Mary McAlister, Kathy Haeny, Denny Dalen, and many more nieces, nephews and other relatives. In addition to her parents, Lynn was preceded in death by one brother and sister-in-law, Edouard “Edward” and Naomi La Plant; Godfather, Cliff Haevers; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Elmer and Elizabeth Haeny; sister-in-law, Barb Haeny; and other relatives, friends, and her cats, Kit Kat, Raymond, and Charlie. Family and friends may call Sunday, August 5, 2012 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave., De Pere, where there will be a Parish Prayer Service at 6:00 p.m., with Pastoral Minister Steve Donovan officiating. Visitation will continue on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of Mass at St. Mary Catholic Church, 4805 Sportsman Drive, Ledgeview. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Monday at church, with Fr. Patrick Beno officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Unity Hospice, 2366 Oak Ridge Circle, De Pere, WI 54115, or to your local library.
