Louis Peter Janssen

December 14, 1922 — January 2, 2018

Louis Peter Janssen “Louie” age 95, De Pere, passed away on January 2, 2018 with his family by his side. Louie is the son of late William and Gertrude (Coenen) Janssen, born on December 14, 1922 in the town of Rockland, WI. Louie married the love of his life, Esther Rose on June 4, 1949 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, De Pere WI, where they remained devoted members. Louie was an usher for many years and a member of the Holy Name Society. Louis purchased a farm in the town of Rockland WI shortly before he was married, and was proud to say he was the oldest living resident in the area. Throughout Louis’s work life, he was the Rockland Town Supervisor for 10 years, worked at Milprint for 18 years, and for the majority of his career, worked as a Milk Inspector for multiple cheese factories. Along with working outside the home, Louie was a crop farmer. In addition to that, he and Esther were vegetable truck gardeners. For 28 years, they attended 3 farmer markets a week in Green Bay and De Pere, where they sold fresh vegetables and poultry. Louie enjoyed reminiscing with the customers, who he often referred to as friends. Louie enjoyed deer hunting, traveling with friends, playing card with neighbors, polka dancing, and watching the Packers play. He was also known to cook the best kettle of Booyah in the area. He cooked a 25-gallon batch a few times a year to share with family, neighbors and friends. Louis was a warm and loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather. He enjoyed having his family around him, and visits from neighbors and friends. Louie greeted others with a heartfelt smile and deep sparkle in his eye. He loved to joke around and share his sense of humor. His hugs and ‘I Love You’ reminders will be missed, but never forgotten. Louie is survived by his 7 children: Mike (Julie) Janssen, Rick (Laurie) Janssen, Diane (Dave) Woelfel, Dave (Sue) Janssen, Cindy (Dave) Van Veghel, Rose (Dave) Hockers, Randy (Tricia) Janssen; 24 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren. 3 Brothers; Bob Janssen, Dan (Dorothy) Janssen, Ken (Donna) Janssen. He is preceded in death by his loving wife Esther of 68 years, his Parents and 3 sisters, Johanna Wellens, Josephine Gossen, and Alice Hutjens as well as in-laws, nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
