Lorraine Skarivoda

March 11, 1932 — April 13, 2022

Lorraine Mary (Valenta) Skarivoda, 90, passed away peacefully in the presence of beloved family on Wednesday, April 13, 2022.

Lorraine was born in Maribel in 1932 to the late Albert, Sr. and Rose (Sladkey) Valenta. She graduated from Denmark High School in 1950 as Valedictorian. Lorraine loved her polka music. At a polka dance in the 50’s, she met the love of her life, LeRoy Skarivoda, and they were married in 1953. He preceded her in death in 1986. Following graduation, She worked for the Mirro Company and the County Extension office in the Manitowoc County Courthouse, before moving to Denmark and starting a family. Once all their daughters were in school, she began working for the teaching staff at All Saints School in Denmark. She then worked for Brown County publishing, typing copy, and later as a proofreader, retiring in 2011. Lorraine was instrumental in setting up the library at All Saints School in Denmark. Over the years, she also volunteered at the libraries in the Denmark Elementary School, the Denmark Middle School and the Brown County Library inside the Denmark High School. Mom enjoyed volunteering her time at the Senior Center, traveling to Parkview to play bingo with the residents, embroidering dish towels, and knitting and crocheting items to be sold at benefits. She enjoyed growing her own vegetables in her garden, boating on the Fox River, travelling to various parts of Wisconsin with family and gator rides to view the Bald Eagles.

Lorraine is survived by her children: Debbie (Bob) Stodola, Donna (Rick) Duckart, Jean (Gene) DeGroot, Mary (Jim) Ledvina, and Kathy (Keith) De Cramer. Her grandchildren: Angela (Bill) Vandermause, Dena Stodola, Greg (Millaine) Stodola, Kristen (Rick) Holzwart, Ryan (Theresa) Duckart, Renee (Ryan) Maigatter, Amanda (Brian) Schultz, Adam (fiance’ Jess) Duckart, Michelle (Tyler) List, Allison (Nate) Younkle, Eric DeGroot, Pete Ledvina, Becky (Mike) Vincent, Jodie (Dan) Aguilar, Ashley (Douglas) Schlies, Courtney (Brady) McClintic, and Stephen De Cramer; 26 Great-grandchildren, plus another due in August. Her brothers Lester (Delores) Valenta, Edwin (Pat) Valenta. Sister-in-law Dorothy Tisler and brother-in-law Edwin Skarivoda, Jr. Many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Lorraine is preceded in death by LeRoy’s parents, Edwin, Sr. and Lillian Skarivoda, her sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy (Otmar) Rabas, brother and sister-in-law, Albert (Sharon) Valenta, Jr., brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Leslie (Helen) Skarivoda, brother-in-law, Jack Tisler, and sister-in-law, JoAnn Skarivoda.
Visitation for Lorraine will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, from 9:00 am to 10:45am at All Saints Catholic Church, Denmark, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am with Father Xavier Amirtham officiating and Father Dennis Drury co-officiant.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the caring staff of Oak Park Place of Green Bay, Anna’s House in New Franken, Bellin Hospital, Aurora Hospital and Unity Hospice.
