Lorraine "Laurie" Georgeson

July 22, 1923 — April 27, 2020

Lorraine “Laurie” Georgeson, age 96, died on Monday, April 27, 2020 at Oak Park Place Assisted Living facility in Green Bay. She was born in Racine, Wisconsin on July 22, 1923 to Herbert and Otillie Stofen.
Growing up in small Wisconsin towns, Lorraine graduated from Richland Center High School in 1941. She found work in Madison, Wisconsin, where she met Robert Georgeson who had enlisted in the Army Air Corps. They were married on June 2, 1943, in Altus, Oklahoma. After the war ended, they moved back to Wisconsin settling in Green Bay in 1951.
With two children entering school by 1955, Lorraine became active in the Elmore grade school PTA. She also started a part-time job working as a secretary at Green Bay city hall. Eventually she moved on to work for the Green Bay school district as a secretary at Porlier school, and later enjoyed many years working at Green Bay Southwest High School. She made many friends there and was a proud public employee.
Lorraine was fortunate enough to travel with family and friends to Europe, Hawaii, Alaska and the Panama Canal. Like many from her generation she enjoyed watching Bob Hope, Lucille Ball, Carol Burnett, and Dick Van Dyke on television. Her favorite movie was “Gone with the Wind.” She also loved listening to Barbara Streisand. Almost all of these activities would be accompanied by a hot fudge sundae, or some other chocolate treat which was a big part of her diet.

Like many people who loved Green Bay Lorraine was an avid Packer fan. As a season ticket holder, she attended many games including the “Ice Bowl” in 1967. Toward the end of her life she couldn’t decide if her favorite Packer was Bret Favre, or Bart Starr.
Lorraine led a long and active life as a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be missed by her many friends and family. She was preceded in death by her father, Herbert Stofen, mother, Ottilie Stofen, brothers Kenneth Stofen and Milferd Stofen, husband Robert Georgeson, and grandson Cale Holmes.
She is survived by her daughter Pamela Holmes, son Randy Georgeson, daughter-in-law Karen Georgeson, grandsons Zachary Holmes and Erick Georgeson, and granddaughter Laura Catto. She is also survived by four special great grandchildren, Russell Catto, Abigail Catto, William Holmes and Owen Holmes.
Due to current health restrictions, the family will be having a private service. Memorials in Laurie's memory can be made to the Broadview YMCA.
The family would like to thank the considerate and sympathetic staff at Oak Park Place for their care of Lorraine, and the compassion and dedication shown by Unity Hospice.
