Lorraine S. Burns, 87, Askeaton, passed away Monday, August 12, 2013. She was born September 9, 1925 in Colorado, daughter to the late Arthur and Iva (Cline) Brown. Lorraine married John (Bud) Burns on July 16, 1943 in San Diego, CA, and he preceded her in death on April 11, 2000. Lorraine and John farmed together for 35 years and she worked at Van Abel’s in Hollandtown for 15 years. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Askeaton. Survivors include her children: John R. (Jill) Burns, Greenleaf, and Barbara (Dennis) Nienhaus, De Pere; five grandchildren: Jeff (Anna) Burns, James Plouff, Jacqueline (David) Ley, Angela (Matthew) Wifler, and Robert (special friend-Kim) Nienhaus; great-grandchildren: Jeffrey (Jessica) Burns and Alison (Greg) Brock, Parker and Patrick Ley, and Benjamin and Ellinore Wifler; step grandchildren: Lexi and Logan; brother and sister-in-law, Arthur (Beverly) Brown, San Diego; sister, Midge Watson, Oklahoma; and other family and friends. Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John (Bud); and daughter, Patricia Plouff. Family and friends may call Friday, August 16, 2013 from 8:30 a.m. until the hour of Memorial Mass at 11:30 a.m. at St. Clare Parish-St. Patrick’s site, Askeaton, with Fr. Dennis Bergsbaken officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Cotter Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Wrightstown, is assisting the family.
