Lori K. (Mitchell) Thompson, 44, De Pere, passed away Saturday morning, May 12, 2012. She was born August 11, 1967 in Manistique, Michigan, daughter of Duane and Joan (Millay) Mitchell. Her early life was spent in Butte, Montana, where she attended public schools. Lori and her family returned to Michigan when she was a young lady, and she graduated from Kingsford High School in 1986. She was a great athlete in school and lettered in track and field, modified softball, and basketball. She was inducted into the Butte High School Hall of Fame for Track Field. Lori married her best friend, Robert J. Thompson, on October 24, 1997 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Pine Grove. Many people will remember her as a waitress at the Chatterhouse in De Pere and at Ziggy’s in Allouez. Lori was a loving wife and mother. She had a great sense of humor and was able to make people laugh She was a sports enthusiast, appreciated nature, and enjoyed gardening and camping. Surviving are her husband, Bob; her mother, Joan Mitchell, Kingsford MI; children: Anthony Mitchell Stankewicz and Summer Alexis Thompson; four brothers: David, Terrence (Cathy), Russell (Ava), and Robert (Michelle) Mitchell; her uncle who was like a second father to her, Art Mitchell; her father-in-law and mother-in-law: James and Dorothy Thompson, Mountain, WI; as well as other aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, and other relatives. Lori was preceded in death by her father, Duane Mitchell; and a brother, Joseph Mitchell. Relatives and friends may call at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave., De Pere, on Wednesday, May 16, 2012, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with the parish prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday, May 17th, from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass at St. Mary Catholic Church, 4805 Sportsman Drive in Ledgeview. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the church on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Patrick Beno officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Lori’s family would like to express their thanks to the staff of Green Bay Oncology, the staff of Heartland Hospice – especially Patti, Anna, Abby, and Mary; to Fr. Patrick Beno; Lisa and Brittany Gehlhoff and family; her parents-in-law, James Dorothy Thompson; and to the officers and co-workers at Belmark Inc. for all of their loving support.
