Loretta Van Wassenhoven

Loretta Van Wassenhoven, 79, De Pere, passed away May, 7, 2018. The daughter of the late Alva and Hilda (Sparrowgrove) Heller was born February 27, 1939 in Delavan, WI. Loretta married the love of her life, Fred Van Wassenhoven on December 2, 1961. He preceded her in death on August 28, 2014.
Loretta was a very devoted wife and loving mother to her four daughters. She loved watching her eight grandchildren and special nieces and nephews grow up and raise families of their own. Loretta’s favorite place was in a room full of family. She loved reminiscing about memories and telling jokes.
She is survived by four daughters, Judy (Todd) Smith, Terry (Mike) Brozek, Beth (John) DeKeyser and Chrissy (Doug) Adams; grandchildren, Heidi (Josh) Verhagen and their son Mason; Sarah (Cory) Gessert; Brittany and Caitlin Brozek; Amber (Rob) Gonzalez; Jacob DeKeyser; April and Kassidy Adams; special brother, Kenny (Donna) Heller; brother, Glenn Heller; sister, Garnetha Erickson; special niece, Mary (Jerry) Longlais and their children Adam (Jenny) Longlais, and their children Piper and Roger; Katie (Jesse) Mrotek and their daughter, Ruby Kate; as well as other nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to her husband, Fred, Loretta is preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, and two sisters.
Family and friends may visit at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave, De Pere on Saturday, May 12, from 10:00am until 12:45pm. The Funeral Service will be celebrated at 1:00pm with Steve Donovan officiating. Burial at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, De Pere. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cotterfuneralhome.com.
Our family would like to extend a special thank you to Bishops Court, especially Jenny Cramer-Rebman, and Jessica Scott for their wonderful and loving care over the last four years. Also, a very sincere thank you to the entire staff at Manor Care East for their compassion and care given in mom’s final days. Our family would also like to thank her two special nieces, Dawn Vercauteren and Lynn Heller for their outpouring of love and support they gave to Loretta and her daughters.
