Loren Juntunen

January 6, 1934 — June 8, 2015

Loren Jacob Juntunen, 81, Lawrence, passed away on Monday, June 08, 2015, following a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease and brain cancer. Loren was born on January 6th, 1934 in Perth, North Dakota to the late Jacob and Hilma Juntunen. In 1956, he married Lyla Jean Asmundson. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1956, and recalled in 1961. He served his country for three years. Loren graduated from the University of North Dakota with a degree in marketing. He worked for the JC Penny Company for his entire career. Loren’s career took them to various cities throughout the Midwest where they eventually settled in Green Bay for retirement. He had a happy retirement enjoying his grandchildren, golfing, and gardening. He is survived by his loving wife, Lyla; four children: Eric and Shawn (Smith) Juntunen, Andrea and Andy Joswiak, Sara and Geno McKenna, Peter and Kristine (Pinkert) Juntunen; grandchildren: Jacob Juntunen and fiancé Kayla Kuntz, Justin Juntunen, Amelia Joswiak and special friend Mitch Lang, Wyatt Joswiak, Evan Juntunen, Molly McKenna, Lauren Juntunen, Elizabeth McKenna, David McKenna, Henry McKenna, Reagan Juntunen; two sisters: Ailie Anderson and Norma Petsinger. He was preceded in death by parents, four brothers: George, Arvin, Leslie, and Eldon Juntunen; two sisters: Ellen Juntunen, and Leah Frick; mother and father-in-law, Julius and Christine (Christianson) Asmundson; granddaughter, Alivia Jean Joswiak. Family and friends may call at Ascension Lutheran Church, 2911 Libal St, Green Bay, on Saturday, June 13th, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Lori Swenson, officiating. Cotter Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, and SIDS. The family wishes to thank the many healthcare providers, friends, and acquaintances who have shared their time, thoughts, and prayers.
