Lois Margaret Buttke

Lois M. Buttke (nee Ihlenfeldt), 91, of Green Bay passed away peacefully on April 19, 2021 in DePere, WI. Lois was born on August 19, 1929 in Marshfield, the daughter of the late August W. and Florence (Weier) Ihlenfeldt. She was raised in Wausau and graduated from Wausau High School. Lois attended Ripon College and earned a BS in Education from Central State Teachers College (UW-Stevens Point). It was during college that she met Ronald Buttke, her husband of 65 years. They were married in Wausau on August 19, 1950. While Lois taught kindergarten in Rothschild and at Allouez and Eisenhower Schools in the Green Bay Public School District she spent most of her time as a stay at home mom. She loved playing golf, bridge and doing crossword puzzles. She and her husband Ron traveled globally and enjoyed wintering at their home in Arizona. As an active member of Faith Lutheran Church in Allouez for many years she was a valued soprano in the church choir.

She is survived by her three children: Roger (Linda) Buttke of Kohler, WI; Sara (Howard) Carstens of Andover, MN; Dirk (Kathy) Buttke of Fremont, MI; grandchildren; Jack (Becky) Buttke of Maple Grove, MN; Sam Buttke of Chippewa Falls, WI; Kristen (Brian) Volz of Ferndale, MI; Kara Buttke of Fremont, MI; Will (Chelsea) Carstens of Otsego, MN; Meredith Carstens of Andover, MN and five great-grandchildren.

Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald as well as her parents.

Funeral services will be held at Faith Lutheran Church, 2335 South Webster Avenue, Allouez, on Monday, April 26, 2021 at 11 a.m. with visitation from 10 a.m. until time of service. Live streaming will be available at www.flcgb.com. Private interment in Woodlawn Cemetery. Cotter Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be sent to www.cotterfuneralhome.com.The family wishes to thank Unity Hospice and the staff of Meng Hospice Residence for their attentiveness and care during our mother’s final days. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church.
