Lois Ann Sterr, Green Bay, was called home by God peacefully with her family at her side on Friday, November 2nd, at the age of 96. Lois was born to the late William and Lillian Scheer in 1922, in Lomira, WI. Lois attended Lomira High School, where she met her forever love, Ambrose “Amby” Sterr. Shortly after high school came World War II, and Lois worked for a short time for the FBI in Washington, D.C. during the war effort while Ambrose was in the Army. On February 1, 1946, Lois and Ambrose married after he returned from the war, waiting until then as Ambrose did not want to potentially leave Lois a widow.
Lois and Ambrose were blessed with 8 children. Lois spent the majority of her life raising her children in their De Pere home while Ambrose ran his dental practice. Lois was a caring and loving mother, always holding dear the teachings of God, teaching us right from wrong, and to love unconditionally.
Upon her husband’s retirement in the mid 1980’s, Lois and Amby took up residence in Palm Beach Gardens, FL, spending the summers at their Lakewood cabin. In 2006 they returned to Wisconsin and lived in Wrightstown until Ambrose’s death in 2014.
Lois enjoyed time at the family cabin in Lakewood, spending time with her large family. She always seemed to come up with wonderful costumes for the annual “Rendezvous”. Lois loved to cook for family, and always had a cake, or a trifle on hand for visitors. Lois stood by her husband’s side throughout his career, and took care of him in his final days after 68 years of marriage. In the little free time Lois had over the years, she loved to paint canvas, read mystery novels, work crossword puzzles, and earlier in life create magnificent apple head dolls.
Lois is survived by her sister Phyllis Myers, Illinois; seven children: William Sterr and Deleta Addington Yates, Vancouver, WA; Thomas (Gloria) Sterr, Green Bay; James (Barbara) Sterr, Green Bay; John Sterr, Lakewood; Jennifer (Dean) Dinnocenzo, Green Bay; Lisa Sterr, Green Bay; and Marcia (Dennis) Marcks, Pulaski. 17 grandchildren and their spouses/significant others: Carrie (Ben) Coello, Peter (Le) Sterr, Ambrose Sterr and Anna Tonkonogui, Illishia Sterr, Laurie (Curt) Baumgart, Shannon Logan, Matt Logan, Jesse (Josephine) Sterr, Amanda Sterr and Kenny Oehler, Adam Sterr and Allie Bonin. Matt (Mai) Dinnocenzo, Allie (Nick) Boerum, Erin (Brandon) Longley, Mark Dinnocenzo. Dan (Sarah) Marcks, Leah Marcks, Sarah Marcks and Walter Klim. Ten great-grandchildren Armando and Desmond Coello, Eileen Sterr, Carissa Hinkens, Weiland and Dylan Baumgart, Judy and Jane Sterr, Samuel Dinnocenzo, and Walter Klim IV.
