Lois Ann (Dungey) Demerritt

January 7, 1923 — March 3, 2018

Lois A. DeMerritt, Green Bay, passed away on March 3, 2018 at the age of 95 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born January 7, 1923 to Albertus and Hazel (Brown) Dungey in Waukesha, Wisconsin and graduated from Waukesha High School. During World War II she moved to Des Moines, Iowa. After the war she met her future husband, Alan, on a blind date. They were married on June 9, 1951. After starting a family in Des Moines, they moved back to Waukesha in 1960. Later, they semi-retired to Sister Bay. He preceded her in death on April 16, 1997. She worked as her husband’s secretary in his private practice as a CPA for many years. A few years after her husband’s death, she moved to De Pere to be closer to her son.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters and brothers in law; Janice (Richard) Wilson, Marjory (Jacob) Tate and Mary (Gene) Reddish, brother in law, John Mueller. She is survived by her younger sisters; twins, Ruth (Walter) Evert and Helen Mueller. She is further survived by her children, Steve (Debra) De Merritt, and Carol DeMerritt, and her four grandchildren and six great grandchildren; Seth (Amy) DeMerritt, Callie and Jackson, Andrew (Tina) De Merritt and Claire, Meagan (Doug) Neitzel, Coraline and Johnathan, and Meredith Giese and Robbie.

Family and friends may call from 9:30am to 11:30 am on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave, De Pere. A funeral service for Lois will be held at the funeral home at 11:30am with Pastor David Ruddat, of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Shirley, officiating. Cotter Funeral Home is assisting the family. The family would like to thank all the staff at Odd Fellow Home for their care over the last four years, and Unity Hospice for making her comfortable during her last few weeks.
