Leonard “Lenny” Jirikovec, 85, of Denmark, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2018 at his home. Leonard was born February 9, 1933 in a winter storm on his family farm in rural Denmark. The son of the late Wencel and Evelyn (Pelishek) Jirikovec . Leonard joined the U.S. Air Force and served four years. He met his loving wife Dorothy Siebold when she was 16. He waited till she was 22 before they got married on September 7, 1963. They had a daughter Stacie. Leonard also known as “One Wheel Lenny” was an operating engineer for 50 years. He enjoyed hunting, bowling and was a man of many trades. He was a loving husband, brother; son, father, and grandfather and he will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; daughter, Stacie (Dean) their children, Brett, Devon, and Savannah; in-laws, Janice Jirikovec, Joann (George) Raymaker, Bill (special friend Karen) Siebold, Linda (Dick) Schlies, Tommy (Susie) Siebold, Mary (Mark) VandenLangenberg, and many nieces and nephews.
Leonard was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws: William and Eleanor Siebold; brother, Paul; sister, Arlene (Dan) Clancy; nephew, Richard Raymaker; and sister-in-law, Gloria Siebold.
Family and friends may visit at Cotter Funeral Home - Denmark Chapel (536 County R) on Friday, April 27 from 3-7 p.m. with a parish prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday, April 28 at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., at which time the procession will leave for St. James Catholic Church in Cooperstown (18228 County Road R). The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. The burial will take place immediately following mass. Online condolences can be expressed at www.cotterfuneralhome.com.
