Leonard "Grant" Bourgeois

L. Grant Bourgeois, 83, passed away in his home on Saturday, February 3, 2018 with his wife as he always wanted. Grant was born in Neenah, Wisconsin on April 2, 1934 to the late Leonard and Anne (Hoffman) Bourgeois. He is survived by his beautiful wife Jean, their 6 children, 14 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild: Mark and (Debbie) Bourgeois, Hartford, Wisconsin, Chris, Matt (Sarah), great-grandchild Morgan, Mike; Lisa and (David) Wegner, De Pere, Wisconsin, Grant, Shay; Joe Bourgeois, Essex Junction, Vermont, Cole, C.J.; Bruce and (Jennie) Bourgeois, De Pere, Wisconsin, Paige; Molly and (David) Kuhn, Glenview, Illinois, Mae Mae, Nolan, Spencer, Sloane; Jessie Bourgeois Knops, Cambridge, Wisconsin, Zoe, Mia, his sister Lorraine LaFond, nieces, nephews and many lifelong friends. Grant attended Saint Joseph’s Grade School, Catholic Central High School and Saint Norbert College. While at Saint Norbert College he played halfback for the Green Knights and was named to the All-Catholic Midwest Football Team. Grant was an outstanding athlete in every sport he played. He graduated from Saint Norbert College in 1955. While in college he met his wife Jean (Vande Hei) and they were married on June 15, 1957 at Old Saint Joe’s Catholic Church. After graduating from college Grant attended Officer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island. He served our Country as a Commissioned Ensign for the Navy on the USS Fessenden a United States Navy Destroyer Escort Ship stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii from 1956 to 1959. Following his Naval service he started a very successful career as a Sales Engineer in the Hydraulic and Pneumatic industry and retired in 1996. Grant was a man with a big heart. He was always willing to listen to family and friends during tough times. His love and support was unconditional. Family and friends may call at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church, 4805 Sportsman Drive, Ledgeview, on Saturday, February 10, from 9:00am until 11:00am. Mass of Christian Burial for Grant will be celebrated at 11:30am with Reverand Richard Getchel officiating. Cotter Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family.
