On a beautiful fall morning, November 25, 2022, Leon Joseph Scray went to be with his beloved God in Heaven. Leon earned his angel wings at the age of 78.
Leon was born on May 30, 1944, in De Pere, WI, to the late Leo and Martha Scray.
He married Mary Katherine Titulaer in 1962 and shared 60 years together.
Leon graduated from East De Pere High School in 1962. He went to Masonry school at NWTC while working in the Scray’s Stone Quarry. He then began working for DeCleene Masonry before starting his own company, “Rainbow Masonry” in 1974. Leon built the De Pere Ice Center in West De Pere. He then worked for Larry VandenAvond & Dick Young. Leon was a very talent mason his entire life and shared his knowledge with countless people. He was also known to be one of the best masons in the Midwest.
He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, gardening & spending time at their cabin, telling “funny” jokes, and sharing stories about his family’s adventures. He spent endless hours patiently mentoring his children, sharing his wisdom, and spending quality time with extended family and friends.
Leon was also known for making the goofiest of sayings!!
His family was the center of Leon’s world. Being a kind, loving, dependable, caring, and compassionate Husband, Dad, Grandpa and Great Grandpa were of the utmost importance to Leon his whole life.
He certainly did not disappoint when it came to wholeheartedly loving his family.
Leon is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 60 years, Mary Katherine (Titulaer) Scray, and their five children, Andy (Kim) Scray, Pam (Kevin) Kocian, Rick (Liz) Scray, Tina (Jeff) Salscheider and Allison (Chad) Corrigan.
Leon is further survived by his MANY cherished grandchildren, Ashley (Hayden) Peterson, Marissa Scray (Mitch Burbach) Brittany (Alex) Gerdmann, Craig Kocian, Jacob Scray, Zachary Scray, Angela (Nick) Deja, Brandon Salscheider, Brad Corrigan and special friend, Maggie Erickson, Jenna Corrigan and special friend, Mason Kussow; and great grandchildren, Nora and Jack Gerdmann, and Cara Deja.
He is also survived by his sisters, Janet, Sandra, Cindy, Gail (Mark) Gallo, Karen Nowak & Diane (Ken) Martin and sister in law Clarice (Don) Lemmens, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law: Jerry Titulaer, Alice Roffers, Janet (Jim) Mc Vey, Jean (Dick) Hutjens, Theresa Bergner (Doug), Deb Titulaer, Barb Titulaer & Dick Robertson.
Leon is survived by MANY loved nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo & Martha Scray; parents-in-law, Urban & Mary Titulaer; brother, Clyde Scray; brother-in-laws, John Titulaer, Dick Titulaer, Tom Titulaer, Mike Titulaer, Dan Titulaer, Lee Roffers and sister-in-law, Margo Robertson, nephew Jared Hutjens and many beloved aunts, uncles, family members, and friends.
Family and friends may gather for visitation and prayer service at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave, De Pere on Friday December 2, from 2:00 – 6:00 pm with a prayer service to follow.
