Lawrence F. Zarda, 95, Denmark, passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at a local hospital. He was born February 14, 1917 in the town of Anawa, WI, son of the late William and Katherine (Reminger) Zarda. He served his country in the United States Army during WWII. Lawrence married Marie Bossell on September 23, 1950 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Mattoon, WI. She preceded him in death on August 16, 2008. After moving to Denmark in 1952, Lawrence drove truck for Les Johnson. He continued driving truck until his retirement. Lawrence was a member of All Saints Catholic Church. He was a member of the Denmark American Legion Post 363. He enjoyed his time with American Legion Post 363 and had served as Past Commander. He also enjoyed bowling, playing cards, deer hunting, and golfing. Survivors include his daughter, Sharon M. (Joseph) Nejedlo, Green Bay; two grandchildren: Steven (Julie) Nejedlo, Menominee Falls; and Marcus (Elizabeth) Nejedlo, Darboy; five great grandchildren: Samuel, Quianna, Keanen, Carter, and Cayden; three sisters: Dorothy Fermanich, Wausau; Joan (Bill) Egging, Mosinee; and Sandy (Harry) Hamilton, Clintonville; and nieces, nephews and cousins. Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marie; three brothers: Ernest Zarda, Melvin (Beatrice) Zarda, and William (Bernice) Zarda; one sister, Lorraine (Elmer) Schroeder; and one brother-in-law, Bernie Fermanich. Relatives and friends may call Monday, April 9, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Knutson-Cotter Funeral Home, 536 County R, Denmark. There will be a Parish Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m., followed by a Veteran's service by Denmark American Legion Post 363. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, Apr. 10th, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at All Saints Catholic Church, 125 St. Claude St., Denmark. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the church on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Ron Colombo officiating. Entombment will be in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum.
