Lawrence Ernest Mancheski

September 5, 1928 — January 19, 2024

Lawrence Ernest Mancheski, aged 95, of Denmark, joined his wife Margaret in Heaven on January 19, 2024. He was born on September 5, 1928, to Vincent and Mary (Holda) Mancheski in New Denmark. Lawrence married the love of his life Margaret (Dixon) on October 5, 1951, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Pine Grove, and the two of them celebrated 71 beautiful years of marriage together before Margaret passed away in May of 2023. Together they raised five wonderful children. Lawrence was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and was deeply loved by his family.

Lawrence proudly joined the Army in 1947 and worked as a surgical technician at Letterman General Hospital in San Francisco, CA. Following this, Lawrence studied at the Milwaukee School of Engineering, then obtained a business degree from the Milwaukee School of Business. Later, he worked at Northern Paper Mill, and he and Margaret bought a farm together. For most of his life after this, Lawrence owned Mancheski Realty and serviced the surrounding areas in Wisconsin.

Lawrence loved playing cards, especially Sheepshead, whether it was with family or friends. He also loved the outdoors and was an avid golfer and hunter – this hobby led to him getting his prized big bear – as well as he was a big supporter of the Packers, proudly wearing his green and gold. He also loved singing and was part of the choir at All Saints Catholic Church for many years. He and Margaret enjoyed traveling together in their RV to visit family and friends all over the U.S. He especially loved his trips to Las Vegas with the Hat and Kane Club. He and Margaret’s first adventure together was buying a bar in Denmark, which they named the Four Jokers Tavern. Lawrence was one of the founding members of the Denmark Norseman Snowmobile Club. He was one of the oldest members of the Knights of Columbus and was also a lifetime member of the American Legion. Lawrence also served as a supervisor on the board of the Village of Denmark.

Lawrence is going to be deeply missed by his children Dan Mancheski, Sandra Leiterman, Kevin (Beckie) Mancheski, Cindy (Jesse) Kusserow, Michael (Cathy) Mancheski; his 13 grandchildren Dakotah (Dave) Gordon, Colton (Marie) Mancheski, Brad (Mindy) Leiterman, Angela Mumbrue, Amy Zirbel, Ashley (Bobby Plog) Mancheski, Adam and Dylan Mancheski, Wendy (Abe) Henry, Corey (Wendy Maxey) Tielens, Tiffany (Dan) Kremmer, Jacob (Samantha Brown) Mancheski, Madison (Dylan) Hanson; his great-grandchildren Charlotte, Luci, and Abby Gordon, Axel Kerker, Sophia and Amelia Leiterman, Ethan Mumbrue, Hadley and Bailey Zirbel, Jackie, Jr., Josalynn, Bentley, and Aubree Plog, Elijah Henry, Calvin and Quinn Kremmer; his sisters-in-law Doris Mancheski, Dianne (John) Meyer and Harriet Stoops; and his brothers-in-law Dan Trumble, Duane Dixon, and Ron Pearl.

Lawrence was preceded in death by his wife Margaret (Dixon) Mancheski; his parents; his mother and father-in-law; grandchild Danielle Mancheski; son-in-law Doug Leiterman; his brothers and sisters Ferdinand Mancheski, Leonard (Clara) Mancheski, Edwin (Dorothy) Mancheski, Felix (Donna) Mancheski, Donald Mancheski, Gertrude (Joe) Rabas, Dorothy (Edward) Matulka, Jean (Merlin) Schoen, and Anna (Warren) Steinfeldt; and his brothers and sisters-in-law Eldora, Mary, Maxine, Faye, Dorothy, John, Joe, Donnie, Gene, Bob, Dan, Wayne, and their spouses.

Family and friends may visit at All Saints Catholic Church at 125 Saint Claude St, Denmark, on January 29 from 10:00-10:45am. Mass will be celebrated at 11:00am with Father Santiago officiating. Lawrence will be laid to rest at Allouez Chapel Mausoleum. Cotter Funeral & Cremation Care of Denmark is assisting the family with arrangements.

Lawrence’s family would like to thank Beckie, Ashley, Teri, and Dylan for the care they provided to Lawrence for the past eight months.
