Laverne Kathleen (Stencil) Mancosky

April 1, 1932 — July 6, 2017

LaVerne Kathleen Mancosky, age 85, of De Pere, died peacefully on Thursday, July 6, 2017. She was born April 1, 1932 in Green Bay to Andrew and Regina (Ripp) Stencil. She married Milton Joseph Mancosky on August 2, 1952 at Annunciation Parish in Green Bay. They would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this year. She is survived by her husband, Milton, her six children and their families; Michael and Elizabeth Mancosky, Amanda (John) Cervantes, and Hannah; Mark and Priscilla Mancosky, Connor, Tesia, and Tait; Patricia and Steven Zach, Caitlin (Brandon) Rutz, Bridget (Brian) Finnel, and Maureen (Fred) Montero-Zach; Debra and Paul Novak, Aaron, and Corey; John and Natalie Mancosky, Kirsten, and Austin; Michelle and Mark Nennig, Bryanna, Marissa, and Courtney. She is further survived by a sister, Mary Jane Walton, a sister in law, Joyce Stencil and many nieces, nephews and friends. LaVerne will be remembered for her kind and generous personality. She enjoyed her time “up north” in Lakewood with family and friends. Most of all, she was dedicated to her family, and they will always know 1715 Mayfair Street as a place of her joy, laughter and love. The aroma of chocolate cookies will linger there forever. She was a talented seamstress and worked many years for Hendricks Drapery Services. LaVerne taught cooking and sewing to children of all ages as a Brown County 4-H leader and was a member of St. Francis Parish, where she helped found the Women’s Bridge Marathon. She was a life-long Packer fan. LaVerne was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Howard, Raymond, James, Carlton, Richard, Delores and Carol; and a granddaughter, Emma Mancosky. Friends may call at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 220 S. Michigan St., De Pere, from 10 to 11am on Saturday, August 5, 2017. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11am with Rev. Binu Varghese O. Praem officiating. Cotter Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to St. Francis Xavier’s Parish or the De Pere Beautification Committee. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff of Rennes Health and Rehabilitation Center, Angels on Arcadian Assisted Living Community and Unity Hospice.
