LaVerne Ann (VanBoxel) Keidatz, age 84, of De Pere, was mercifully called Home after her long struggle from the effects of Alzheimer’s disease on Monday, February 2, 2015 with her family at her side. The daughter of the late Lambert and Mabel VanBoxel was born September 22, 1930 in Green Bay. She attended East Green Bay High School, graduating in 1948. LaVerne was baptized, confirmed as a member and later married to Conrad Keidatz on September 9, 1950 at Grace Lutheran Church in Green Bay. After Conrad returned from serving 2 years at war in Korea, he and LaVerne built their home and life in DePere, first working at home as a full-time homemaker and later returning to work as an abstractor and legal secretary to a judge in Green Bay. LaVerne enjoyed spending time with her family (especially the grandchildren), visiting their cottage on Green Bay, traveling and gardening. After retirement, Conrad and she enjoyed spending winters at their home in Matlacha/Pine Island, Florida. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, where she was very involved notably in bible studies, choir, teaching Sunday school, the ladies guild and its missions. In her later years, she joined Alleluia Lutheran Church when Karen became her caregiver. Survivors include her daughters Kris (Mike) Langer of Suamico and Karen (Bernie Jr.) Lessor of De Pere; grandchildren Kimberly (Daniel) Metoxen and their daughter Jaina; Dana (Benjamin) Kohlbeck and their children Mason and Brielle; Eric (Kelly) Langer and their son Everett; two sisters-in-law Nancy (Dave) Haupt and Marye VanBoxel, as well as nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Conrad; mother and father; an infant brother and sister; mother-in-law and father-in-law Lillian and Hubert Eichhorst; sister Joyce (Ron) Lardinois; brother Robert VanBoxel; and a brother-in-law Richard (Hilma) Keidatz. Family and friends may visit at Hope Lutheran Church, 705 S. Michigan St., De Pere, on Thursday, February 5, from 3:00 pm until the time of service at 5:00 pm with Pastor Aaron Hutton officiating. Entombment will be in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum. Cotter Funeral Home is assisting the family. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the caregivers of Cardinal Ridge for their amazing love and compassion shown to Mom in these last 3 years. Thanks also to Unity Hospice for their support. We also would like to thank Claire and Bernie Lessor, Sr., for their visits and friendship.
