Laurie Cayemberg

February 23, 1959 — July 19, 2023

Laura “Laurie” Cayemberg, 64, of Allouez, peacefully passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2023, with her husband and three children by her side following a brave, yearlong battle with pancreatic cancer.

Laurie was born February 23, 1959, in Green Bay, the second youngest of five children born to Robert and Gertrude (Hoida) Flegel. She attended Green Bay Preble High School where she met Cletus Cayemberg. On October 11, 1980, the high school sweethearts were joined in marriage at St. Bernards Catholic Church. This union was blessed with three children: Tony, Anna, and Sam.

Laurie enjoyed shopping trips and get-togethers with family, friends and neighbors. Annual camping trips to Firefly Lake were a family favorite until they hung up the camper in 2019. They traded it in for a cabin in God’s Country at her happy place on Long Lake in Florence County.

Laurie will be remembered most for her infectious smile. Not only could she light up a room like the sun, but she also had its gravitational force- she never met a stranger because everyone naturally drifted towards her. Her ability to make anyone feel comfortable in her presence was truly a gift.

Survivors include her husband, Cletus; her children: Tony (Danielle) Cayemberg, Anna (Nick) Sengbusch, and Sam (Faith) Cayemberg; grandchildren: Aiden, Gabrielle, & Gibson; Zoe and Drake; and Camila; her sister, Cindy (Ken) Neumeier; brothers, Tom (Janice) Flegel and Steve Flegel; father-in-law, Roland Cayemberg; other relatives and friends.

Laurie was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Gertrude Flegel; her mother-in-law, Shirley Cayemberg; her brother, Richard Flegel; and her brother-in-law, Dale Cayemberg.

The family would like to extend a special, heartfelt thank you to Dr. Umang Gautam and the team at Aurora Bay Care Medical Center; the staff at the Vince Lombardi Cancer Center; and Unity Hospice for the kind and compassionate care that Laurie received.

Family and friends may gather on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Cotter Funeral and Cremation Care, 860 N. Webster Ave. De Pere, WI.
