Laurene (Kafka) Kolarik, 85, of Denmark, passed away on March 1, 2024 after a brief health issue. Laurene was born on August 9, 1938 to the late Henry and Thelma (Hendrickson) Kafka. She graduated with the class of 1956 from Denmark High School. She was employed by Wisconsin Public Service until her retirement. Laurene was a member of the All Saints Altar Society. On May 27, 1972, she married Richard Kolarik at All Saints Catholic Church.
Laurene enjoyed cheering for the Green Bay Packers, the Friday Night Couples Bowling league, Book Club, visiting friends and family, traveling and a good rye whiskey.
Laurene is survived by her husband of 51 years, Richard, her son Jayme of Woodbury, MN and daughter Joni Trousil of Denmark. She is further survived by her sister Jean Minten of DePere, brother Larry (Donna) Kafka of Cooperstown, sisters-in-law MaryJo Shefchik and Barbara Kafka, brothers-in-law Robert (Therese) Kolarik, William (Kandy) Kolarik and Maynard (Ethel) Kuehl and life-long friend Marion Ryan.
Preceding her in death are her parents, in-laws Carl and Mary Kolarik, sisters MaryAnn Mincheski and Bonnie Gauthier, brother Denis Kafka, sister-in-law Janice Kuehl, brothers-in-law Richard Mincheski, Donald Minten and Nobert Shefchik, niece Lois Minten and nephew Paul Shefchik.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 8th from 4 to 8 pm, with a prayer service at 7:30 pm, at Cotter Funeral Home, 536 County Rd R, Denmark. Visitation will continue on Saturday, March 9th at the funeral home from 9-10:30. Mass of Christian burial at All Saints Catholic Church at 11am. Burial will take place following mass in the church cemetery.
