Laura Sandra Haas

August 27, 1985 — October 21, 2023

With broken hearts we announce that Laura Sandra (Kolbach) Haas, 38, passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at UCSD Hospital San Diego, CA in the presence of her loving family. Diagnosed with sarcoma cancer in June of 2020, she battled with courage, grace and dignity.

Laura was born in Green Bay, WI on August 27, 1985 to Paul and Sandra (Bake) Kolbach. She attended local schools graduating with honors from Ashwaubenon High in 2004. In 2009 Laura earned a degree in biology and Spanish from UW-Whitewater. She furthered her education at Mount Mary University to obtain her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2011.

Laura began her career in nursing at the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison specializing as a surgical nurse.

While in nursing school she met the love of her life, Neal Haas. Neal and Laura were married in June of 2015 and soon after started a life in San Diego. Pursuing her degree, Laura worked as a surgical nurse at UCSD Hospital in La Jolla, CA.

Laura was an honest, generous person and loved the little things in life - pizza, ice cream or a lazy day at the beach. She was lucky enough to stumble upon her idol Josh Groban one day while he was sitting on a park bench recalling that it was one of the best days ever! She was an avid Packer fan through good times and bad and was always proud to wear her Packer gear around San Diego and converted many California friends into Packer fans. She would never pass up a chance to get to Lambeau Field. She had a passion for Disneyland and visited it many times. Laura loved to travel. She spent a semester studying abroad in Madrid, Spain, also visiting many other European countries. Of all the things Laura did, she was most proud to be a mother to her two precious children Seamus and Rose. Her extraordinary smile could brighten up the darkest day and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Laura is preceded in death by her maternal Grandfather, Douglas Bake and her paternal Grandparents Henry and Doris Kolbach.

She is survived by her loving husband Neal; two children Seamus and Rose; parents, Paul and Sandra Kolbach; brother, Joseph Kolbach; Maternal Grandmother, Pat Bake; In-Laws, Steve and Liz Haas; Sister-in-law Marie Haas; Brothers-in-law, Matt (Victoria) Haas, Nathan (Laura) Haas, Mark (Juliet) Haas and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

It was Laura’s wish to have a Celebration of Life in San Diego with her many friends and coworkers which was held at St. Therese of Carmel Catholic Church in San Diego on November 4th.

Laura will be welcomed back to Green Bay with a memorial Mass at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral on Monday, December 18th at 11:00am celebrated by the Most Reverend David L. Ricken and Father Luke Ferris. A visitation period will be held from 9:30am until 10:45am before Mass.

Immediately following, please join us at the Ashwaubenon Community Center for a reception/luncheon.

The family would like to thank Laura’s many friends, relatives and coworkers for their unending love and encouragement throughout her illness.

We love you Laura and will remember you every day as we watch Seamus and Rose grow.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Haas Family in support of Seamus and Rose.
