Karen H. Dorau, 66, of Oneida, WI passed away on December 12, 2017 after a courageous, brief battle with cancer. She was born on March 16, 1951 in Manitowoc, the daughter of the late Reinard and Jeanette (Bauer) Holschbach. Karen married Gene Dorau on April 30, 1982 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kellnersville. Gene and Karen loved to travel and visited many special placed in the United States and foreign countries. She loved going to rummage sales with her sister, Kaye, and grand-nieces and nephews, estate sales with family and friends and doing crafts with her grand-nieces and nephews. Karen was an avid gardener and a voracious reader. She graduated from Reedsville High School with the class of 1969 and graduated from UW-River Falls with a degree in history. Karen was an advocate for victims which she proved every day when she went to work as the Victim Witness Director for the District Attorney’s office in Green Bay for over 30 years. She loved her job and was still working until her passing. Karen is survived by her sister Kaye (Curt) Johnson of Whitelaw and her brother Leslie (Janet) Holschbach of Venice, FL; her nephew and godson Aaron Johnson of Green Bay and his children: Olivia, Logan, Alexa and Ashton, a step-grandnephew Aiden Farrell of Green Bay; aunt Betty Holschbach of Manitowoc; aunt and uncle Bob and Amy Kaufmann of Manitowoc and many special cousins. She is further survived by her special pets, trouble maker, Ziggy, along with outdoor cats: Mythie, Patches and Rusty. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Dorau; her parents Reinard and Jeanette Holschbach; uncles and aunts: Bob and Eunice Gaedke, Jeanette Korinek, Leo Holschbach, Marvin and Ione Pankratz, William and Jean Holschbach. Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2017 from 1:00-5:00pm at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N Webster Avenue, De Pere, with a short memorial service at 3:30pm.
