Joyce Y. Halvorson

Former Garden, MI resident Joyce Halvorson, 87, of Denmark, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 12, 2018. She was born on June 5, 1931 in Marinesco, MI, the daughter of Elmer and Hazel (Fox) Bonifas. On March 26, 1954 she married John “Jack” Halvorson in Menominee, MI.

Joyce was proud of her education, she became an LPN and worked at Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital in Manistique, MI for several years. She moved to the Green Bay area where she worked at Syble Hopp and helped manage the Danish Villa Apartments in Denmark for 30 years.

Joyce traveled to all 50 states, Mexico and Canada, was an avid reader and enjoyed knitting winter hats, afghans and dishcloths. Through the years she donated hundreds of hats.

She is survived by her children: Louise (Charles) Reetz, Maribel, Jackie Halvorson, Seymour, John Halvorson, Garden, MI, Elaine LaTulip, Seymour and a daughter-in-law, Carla Halvorson, Mishicot; grandchildren: Luke Reetz, Emily (Jared) Anderson, Desiree (Mike Titus), Jake, Brianne, Kaitlin, and Noah Halvorson, Jason (Emily), Dan and Logan (Courtney) LaTulip and Alyssa Halvorson; great-grandchildren: Alexander and Elena Reetz, Marcus, Jack and Sawyer Anderson, Dominic and Morgan LaTulip, Zaylee, Autumn and Adaline LaTulip, Jasper, Harper and River Titus: brother-in-law: Gary Lang, Fayette, MI; sister-in-law: Kathy Seaman, Fairport, MI and several nieces and nephews.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband John ”Jack” Halvorson and their son, Terry; 5 brothers and 2 sisters, several sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may visit at All Saints Catholic Church, 145 St. Claude Street, Denmark, on Saturday, November 24, from 10:00am until 10:45am.
