Joyce Marie (Seidl) Tomcheck

July 3, 1942 — March 28, 2016

Joyce Marie (Seidl) Tomcheck 73, Green Bay, WI passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Monday, March 28, 2016. She was born to Michael and Lillian (Husnik) Seidl on July 3,1942. On April 22, 1972 she married Gary Lee Tomcheck at St. Mary's Catholic Church in the Town of Glenmore, WI. She graduated from St. Joseph's Academy in 1960 and shortly after became employed at Bay West Paper Company. If you asked her how long she worked there she would tell you exactly 31 years, 8 months and 5 days. After retirement, she spent over 20 years care taking for others in which most of them considered her as family. She was a member of Resurrection Catholic Parish. Joyce had lots of energy and wore many different hats. One of her passions was gardening and in September of 2012 she won the Allouez Beautification award for her well-manicured yard and beautiful flower displays. She was also a member of the “5AM Club” at the Broadview YMCA. Joyce loved polka and line dancing and never missed a Thursday evening dancing at the Elk's Club, even after her cancer diagnosis. She always seemed to make new friends wherever she went. Joyce lit up every time she talked about her grandchildren and loved to spoil them. She was also looking forward to the arrival of her 4th grandchild, due in April. The best word to describe Joyce is generous. She was not only generous with her extravagant gifts, she was generous with her time and love for her family and friends. Her humor, quick wit and generosity were felt by everyone who knew her. Survivors include her husband of almost 44 years, Gary; daughter, Jill (Patrick) McCaughn; daughter, Jennifer (Jesse) Shoemaker; grandchildren, Mason McCaughn, Maxwell McCaughn, Jaxson Shoemaker and Baby Shoemaker; sisters and brothers, Carol (Darryl) Derricks, Michael (special friend, Shelley) Seidl Jr., Patsy (Jim) Potts, David (Beverly) Seidl; brother-in-law, Steve (Jane) Tomcheck; many nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends. Joyce was proceeded in death by her parents, Michael and Lillian (Husnik) Seidl; her in-laws, Edward and Priscilla (Oudeans) Tomcheck; brother-in-law, Edward Tomcheck Jr.; paternal grandparents, Henry and Frances Seidl; maternal grandparents, Wencil and Theresa Husnik. Family and friends are welcome to visit at Resurrection Catholic Parish at 333 Hilltop Drive, Allouez, on Saturday April 2, visitation from 8:30AM to 10:45AM followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM with Bishop Robert Morneau officiating.
