Joyce A. (Merchant) Howell

Joyce Ann Howell (Merchant), 64, De Pere, passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2011. She was born October 20, 1946 in Cheboygan, MI, to Leo and Zelma Merchant. Joyce was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. All who knew her were drawn to her love and her compassion for her family and friends. Seemingly, she always surrounded herself with the care and love of children. Whether it was family, friends, or the children she cared for as a daycare provider - every single one of them was what motivated and fueled Joyce in her life. It was appropriately fitting that her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and close friends were at her side when Joyce passed away. She was once again surrounded by those she loved, and those who had loved her so much in life. She will be deeply missed and always loved. The memories with her will live within and be cherished by all who knew her. Joyce is survived by her husband John; three children: Rick(Heather), Lynn(Pat) and Kevin(Sandy); four step children: Leigh, Jason, Chad and Heather; 16 grand children, and 4 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, and her daughter, Kerri Jo. Family and friends may call at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster, De Pere, on Saturday, July 30, 2011 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. A memorial service will follow at the funeral home on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Roy Rose officiating. The family would like to thank Pastor Rose, his wife Barb, and all of the friends for their tremendous support and love during this difficult time.
