Josephine Leiterman

Josephine “Joanne” Leiterman, age 89, of Denmark, passed away October 23, 2022, surrounded by her family and was reunited with her husband Leonard. The daughter of the late Joseph and Agnes (Graycarek) Cisler was born July 7, 1933, in Stangleville, WI. She worked for 30 years and retired from Brown County Publishing. Joanne enjoyed time spent with family, especially her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her friends. Her faith was very important to her, with a special devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Theresa. She was a long-time member of All Saints Parish in Denmark, where she served in the Altar Society and on the school board. She enjoyed playing cards and listening to music.

Survivors include her children: Dennis Leiterman, Sue (Mike) Bielinski and Kay (Curt) Nelson; daughter-in-law: Lisa Leiterman; her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and Godchildren; brother: Barney Cisler;sister-in-law Beatrice Cisler; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard; sons: John and Doug; her parents; sister Betty Jane; brothers: Bob Cisler and Gerhardt Cisler; and sister-in-law, Carol Cisler.

Family and friends may visit at All Saints Catholic Church in Denmark on Thursday, October 27, from 10:00am until 11:45am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00pm with Fr. Xavier Amirtham, O.Praem officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Cotter Funeral and Cremation Care is assisting the family.

The family would like to thank the Denmark rescue squad team, as well as the caregivers at St. Vincent Hospital and Unity Hospice for their expertise and care they put forth in Joanne’s final days with her family.

Joanne is remembered as the loving, faith-filled matriarch of the Leiterman family who always put family first. Her greatest accomplishment was being able to raise her 5 children and support her mother when she became a widow at 40 years old. Joanne was proud of what she accomplished as a mother and her family celebrates her ability to trailblaze a new path even in the most difficult of times.
