Joseph Walch

Joseph M. Walch, 91, De Pere, passed away peacefully Monday May 23, 2011 at Rennes Healthcare Center. The son of John and Gertrude (Rushford) Walch was born March 8, 1920 in De Pere. Joe served his country during WWII in the Army for the 632nd TD Bn. Joe married the former Marion F. Hockers June 1, 1946 at St. Mary Catholic Church in De Pere. He was an avid sportsman and made many pheasant hunting trips to South Dakota with his field champion springer spaniel. He was a life-long member of St Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Survivors include his loving wife Marion, their children: Michael (Sandi) Walch, De Pere John (Gurmit) Walch, Phoenix, Mary Jo Ward and her significant other Mike Babcock, Green Bay, Terry (Thomas) Hendricks, De Pere, daughter-in-law, Kristine Walch, De Pere; Grandchildren: Nicole (Mike) White, Janine (Tim) Krajnik, Amilyn (Brian) Genz, Antone (Gokcin) Walch, Robbie Walch, David Walch, Eric Van Den Heuvel, Bryan (Andrea) Van Den Heuvel, and 7 Great Grandchildren. Further survived by a sister-in-law: Leora (Hockers) Feser, as well as many nieces and nephews. Joe was preceded in death by a son, William, a brother: Charles Walch, and sister: Helen (Walch) Minich. Family and friends may call at St Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 220 S Michigan St. De Pere, on Friday May 27, 2011, from 4 p.m. until the time of the mass. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 6.p.m. Friday, at the church, with Rev. John H. Harper officiating. Entombment in Allouez Chapel Mausoleum. Marion and her family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Rennes Healthcare Center for all of their care and concern. They would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Gene Bunker who spent time with Joe every week playing cribbage.
