Joseph "Joe" Salm

May 12, 1946 — March 29, 2018

Joseph "Joe" Salm, age 71 of Denmark, passed peacefully and joined his loved ones in heaven on March 29th, 2018 while surrounded by his loving family. The son of the late Gilbert and Ellen (Mattson) Salm was born May 12th, 1946 in Appleton. He attended St. Boniface Grade School in De Pere and West De Pere High School, graduating in the class of 1964; after which, he joined the Army Reserve.

On May 23, 1970, he married Marcia Wiercinski at St. Joseph Catholic Church in De Pere.
Joe worked for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad and Green Bay & Western Railroad, as well as the National Farmers Organization. He was also a longtime dairy farmer and co-founder of Salm Partners, LLC in Denmark with his brothers. Joe belonged to the Manitowoc County Lakes Association and was vice-president of the Carstens Lake Association.

Joe was preceded in death by his mother and father, brothers David and Tony, father-in-law Ted, niece Jennifer, sisters-in-law Barb and Carol and great-nephew Simon.

He is survived by his wife Marcia, his children: Sharon (Mike) Werner and daughters Sarah and Ash-ley, Katie (Dean) Duckart and daughters Caitlyn and Julia, Joe (Netti) and daughter Madison; his brothers Nicholas (Jeanette), Gilbert (Carole), Peter (Peggy), Victor (Lin), Christopher (Susan), Mark (Brenda) and sisters Anne (Larry Headrick), Ellen (Larry Vogels) and Rose (Robert Westbury); mother-in-law Erma Wiercinski; Marcia's siblings: Ted (Carol) Wiercinski, Mike (Esther) Wiercinski, Ray (Mary) Wiercinski, Carolyn (Ron) Pierquet, Larry (Lisa) Wiercinski; as well as 48 nieces and nephews and 81 great-nieces and great-nephews.

Joe’s five granddaughters were the pride and joy of his life. He loved nothing more than spending time with them and was extremely proud of each for different reasons.

Joe will be remembered for his wit and wisdom, his joyful spirit and his genuine love for others. He was a source of encouragement to many and was appreciated for his kindness. With a permanent smile on his face, he brought happiness to everyone that met him; to know Joe, was to love him.
