John Roger DuPont, 75, passed away on Wednesday March 21, 2018 due to complications from cancer. John was born on January 29, 1943, the only child of John B. and Verona (Weinfurter) DuPont. He attended Cathedral Grade School and Premontre High School. At age 19, he became assistant manager of the Main Street Green Bay Sure Way Store. He was a member of the National Guard, 32nd Mechanized Infantry Division. In 1965 he began working at Paper Converting Machine Company where he found his passion for flexographic printing. His knowledge and expertise were well known in the flexographic community and he willingly shared his knowledge. Then in 1988 John accepted a position as Operations Manager at Banner Packaging in Oshkosh, WI. In 1995 he returned to Paper Converting Machine Company and retired from there in 2005. Finding retirement not to his liking, he created his own consulting business, Bayflex Resources, working up until 2017 when he became ill.
John served on the Package and Label Printing Advisory Committee and Flexographic Scholarship Committee at Fox Valley Technical College where he also served as adjunct instructor in the flexographic program. He gave seminars in South Africa, South America, Australia and New Zealand, throughout Europe and the United Kingdom. In addition, he promoted Flexo in Canada, Mexico, Thailand, South Korea, Saudi Arabia and the Ukraine. John was a former member of the Foundation of the Flexographic Technical Association Board and served on the Flexographic Technical Association (FTA) in workshops, seminars, forums and on FTA Judging Committee for Excellence Awards. He held one U.S. patent.
John married his high school sweetheart, his love, Jane Baumgart on July 30, 1966. They built a life together centered on family, for though John traveled a great deal, Jane and their children, Todd and Kara, were always his first priority. He taught them to be strong, self-sufficient, loving people with a good work ethic all the while enjoying the little things in life. He was proud of his grandchildren and loved them immensely. John could build (a cottage), restore (2 cars), and repair almost anything. He enjoyed working in his yard and flower beds.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Jane; son, Todd (Stacy) DuPont, their children Sam, Emma and Sophie; daughter, Kara (Kurt Meinhardt), her children Kaitlyn (fiancé Bret Rover), Emily (boyfriend Sidney Van Lannen) and Lila.
John was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law, Germaine Hudson; aunts; uncles; and cousins.
