John "Jack" Lund

June 8, 1930 — February 21, 2017

John (Jack) J. Lund 6/8/1930 – February 21, 2017 Jack entered the Kingdom of God greeted by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, his beloved wife Ruthie, his granddaughter Kristin and the many relatives and friends from throughout the years. Jack was preceded in death by his wife Ruth, parents Wilford and Mary, granddaughter Kristin, and brother in-law Jack Klaus. Jack is survived by his son, Bruce Lund; Daughters, Bonnie Jo Saboda and Polly Lund(Paul); and son, Jon Lund(Kim). Dad had 7 grandchildren: Kristin, Erin, Sarah, Elizabeth, Christopher, Mindy, and Jazmine. Dad also had 7 Great grandchildren: Bryce, Addison, Brayden, Brynn, Bennett, Jack, Ava, Hadley and Henry. He is also survived by seven brothers and sisters: Bill(Jeanette); Jill Klaus; Jerry Lund(Dee Dee); Tina Weas(Ron); Judi VanEnkenvort(Gary); Mike Lund(Juanita); and Sue Koop(Mike) as well as many nieces and nephews. To say Jack was never the same after his beloved Ruthie died in 2011 would be an understatement. She was the love of his life. After a short time living alone he moved into an assisted living center, Care for all Ages. Following illness, Dad needed 24 hour nursing care and moved into Rennes Nursing and Rehab Center, where he lived until his passing. During dad’s teen years he spent many summers with his Grandpa Jacobs on the farm. After Grandpa Jacobs moved off the farm, he was invited to stay with one of grandpa’s neighbors, the Fleishners during the summer. Dad truly loved recalling his summers working on the farm. We kids had as much fun listening to these stories as he did telling them. Dad spent nearly 46 years driving truck of one form or another. He started at the young age of 16 driving dump truck for his dad. Dad spent many years driving an 18 wheeler hauling gas and ended his career as an “owner operator” driving two Kenworths, the last one brand new before retiring in 1992. Dad loved the outdoors and hunting and fishing. Dad never tired of reliving his exploits in the woods or on the water. Dad was a crack shot and loved trolling for his favorite fish, the walleye. Dad always dreamed of having a boat with his name on it, a LUND! He fulfilled this dream in 2007. The two biggest thrills in Dad’s life were eating mom’s cooking and being surrounded by his family. While Dad is no longer physically with us, we will forever cherish his sense of humor and charm which will live in our hearts forever.
