John ""Jack"" Kitslaar

August 18, 1925 — September 30, 2013

John L. “Jack” Kitslaar, Jr., age 88, of Allouez, passed away Monday, September 30, 2013. The son of the late John and Dymphna (McLaughlin) Kitslaar, Sr., was born August 18, 1925 in Green Bay. Jack served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII, having served in the Pacific Theatre. He married Peg Haanen Woodward on January 21, 1950 at St. Willebrord Catholic Church in Green Bay. Jack was educated at the New York School of Interior Design, and worked as an interior designer, having owned Kitslaar Interiors for 27 years. He loved to use his hands, especially for designing, building and decorating. Jack always had a project he was working on, or helping others with theirs. He also enjoyed spending time at the cabin in the woods, and was an active member and volunteer of St. Willebrord Parish and St. Vincent Hospital. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Survivors include his loving wife, Peg; children: John L. (Pam) Kitslaar III, Monona, Jim (Tami) Kitslaar, McCormick, SC, Rick (Maradee) Kitslaar, Round Rock, TX, Tony Kitslaar, Winfield, IL, Mary (Bob) Harvey, Hortonville; grandchildren: Jennifer (Robb) Kahl, Kevin (Karen), Ben (Sarah) and Andy (Laura) Kitslaar, Melissa Brown, Kelsey Kitslaar, Daniel, Tim and Sarah Kitslaar, Cory and Casey Harvey; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Mary Zellner, Therese Stevens, Sr. Katherine Kitslaar and Tom (Kathy) Kitslaar; in-laws: Joyce Gehr and William (Peg) Haanen; nieces and nephews. Jack was preceded in death by: an infant son, Joseph; 2 brothers: William and Francis Kitslaar; in-laws: Robert Zellner, William Gehr and George Stevens. Family and friends may visit at Resurrection Catholic Church, 333 Hilltop Drive, Allouez, on Wednesday, October 2, from 5-8pm. A parish prayer service will be held at 7pm with Fr. Bill Van De Kreeke presiding. Visitation will continue on Thursday, from 9:30-10:45am at the church, with the Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00am, with Bishop Robert Morneau officiating. Cotter Funeral Home is assisting the family. Online condolences at www.cotterfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful caregivers at Angels Touch and Hospice Advantage for the care and concern shown to Jack and his family.
