As a child, John’s father worked for Bloomer Construction building interstate highways, and they moved many times until settling in Green Bay WI in 1948. He was a graduate of Green Bay East High School, where he met Marilyn Kellerman, both graduating in 1950. John & Marilyn were high school sweethearts. John served our country in the US Navy during the Korean War, and was stationed aboard the USS Boxer as a Mine Man out of San Francisco Bay until his honorable discharge in 1955. John was able to take part in the Old Glory Honor Flight #35 as a Korean War Veteran, and enjoyed the memorable trip with other Veterans. On April 16 1955 John married the former Marilyn Kellerman at Grace Lutheran Church. They were married 66 years, and together for over 73 years. John was employed at Armour Foods as a salesman for a few years, before taking a risk and co-founded NEW Office Supply with his brother-in-law Paul Kriedeman Sr. John was an avid Packer fan, holding season tickets since Lambeau Field was built in 1957.
He was very active in church, community and local charitable organizations. John was a founding member of Martha’s Coffee Club, holding the role of treasurer since 1962. John was on the Board of Directors at Fort Howard Cemetery, and was a past president of Faith Lutheran Church. John worked hard his whole life and greatly enjoyed being retired, as it afforded him the chance to spend time with his family that he adored.
