John "Jack" A. Verdette

John (Jack) A. Verdette, 83, passed away Monday, September 24, 2018, after a long illness. He was born on August 7, 1935 to the late Vernal and Julia (Cologne) Verdette.

On August 10, 1957 he married Carol Bellin at St. Francis Catholic Church. They shared 61 wonderful years of marriage.

Jack graduated from UW-Oshkosh with a degree in Education, and later received his Master’s degree. He loved to teach and enjoyed his time with students. He taught at Edison Middle School before moving to Preble High School in Green Bay for 36 years before his retirement in 1993.

Jack and Carol then split time between their cottage on Shawano Lake and their condo in Fort Myers, FL. Jack enjoyed fishing on Shawano Lake and providing many wonderful fish fry’s. He enjoyed shelling on the beaches in Florida, golf, and watching his beloved Green Bay Packers. Jack and Carol traveled extensively all over the country, many on cruises.

Jack is survived by his wife Carol, children Kathleen (Bruce) Martell of Green Bay, Connie (Greg) Metzler of Keller, TX, Randall (Lori) Verdette of Suamico; grandchildren: Amanda (Sean) Bunch, Andrea (Jeff) Major and Karina Verdette; great-grandchildren: Jaxon Major, Alexis Major, Holland Bunch; sister: Marlene (Gerald) Vande Loo; 3 nieces: Kelly (Jim) Donnelly, Kristy (Brian) Thurlow and Kari (Chris) Mellin.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents Vernal and Julia Verdette; mother-in-law and father-in-law Raymond and Clara Bellin.

Visitation will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church, 4805 Sportsman Drive, Ledgeview on Thursday, September 27, from 10:00am until 11:15am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30am with Father Michael Thiel officiating. Cotter Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family.

The family would like to thank the many caregivers that provided loving care over the years.
