John E Reedy

John E. Reedy, 95, Wrightstown, passed away Monday, May 10, 2010. He was born June 15, 1914 in Maribel to the late James and Anna (Cavanaugh) Reedy. On August 24, 1938 John married Marie Tilger at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in East Wrightstown. Marie and John owned and operated Reedy’s Restaurant in Wrightstown for over 26 years. They celebrated 59 years of marriage together before Marie passed away on March 4, 1998. John was very active in the community, where he served in the Village Government and on local school boards. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and active in the Lions Club for over 50 years. He was a longtime member of the Wisconsin Restaurant Association and St. Paul Catholic Church. John’s hobbies included fishing, gardening, caning chairs, cooking, cracking hickory nuts, traveling and most important spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include his children: Conrad “CJ” (Carolyn) Reedy; Jean (Gene) de Groot; Pat (Bob) Behrens; Carol (Bill) Fritsch; Margie (Lenny) Van Der Wegen; Rosemary Reedy; Cathy (Jerry) Vogels; son-in-law, Bob Buechler; 29 grandchildren; 45great-grandchildren;4 great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Arileen Duckett. John was preceded in death by his wife, Marie; daughter, Judy Buechler; grandson, MJ de Groot; brother, Earl Reedy; infant sister, Kathleen Reedy; brother-in-law, Norbert Duckett; and many other relatives and friends. Family and friends may call Thursday, May 13, 2010 at De Wane-Cotter Funeral Home, 711 Main St., Wrightstown, from 4:00p.m. until 8:00p.m. with a parish prayer service at 4:00p.m. Visitation will continue on Friday at St. Clare Parish/St. Paul Catholic Church, 437 Main St., Wrightstown, from 9:30a.m. until 10:45a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at the church at 11:00a.m. with the Rev. Dennis Bergsbaken officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul Catholic Cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.cotterfuneralhome.com. The family would like to extend many thanks to John’s friends in Florida, especially John and Ray, as well as his local friends and neighbors, especially Judy and Mark. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
