Joe Hendricks

December 19, 1945 — April 18, 2024

It was with great sadness we announce the passing of Joseph Hendricks, Jr., of De Pere on April 18, 2024 after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Born December 19, 1945 to Joseph and Patricia (Olbrantz) Hendricks, Joe attended Abbot Pennings for 3 years but graduated from De Pere High in 1964. In his youth, he played a lot of hockey, making sure the ice rinks in De Pere were flooded. In 1963, as a junior, he won the state championship in golf.

Joe got his first job at age 10 doing a paper route and also working for his dad. In his teen years, he worked at the Red Owl Store in De Pere. In 1973 he purchased Hendricks Painting from his dad: the job he loved to go to everyday! When his boys were young, he coached them in hockey, baseball, and soccer.

He married Kay Danen in 1969. Together they raised 3 boys: Chad (Jenny), Brad (Becky), their children Emma and Korin, Cory (special friend Kristin), and children Kylee, Myles, and Blake.

In 2019, Joe received the Roses for the Living award from the De Pere Rotary Club for his giving in the community. Joe was passionate about the CP Center and spent time on-air each year, supporting and fundraising for the CP Telethon

Joe was preceded in death by his parents: Joe and Pat Hendricks, his in-laws: Paul and Dorothy Danen, his brothers-in-law: Pat and Mark Danen, his sisters-in-law: Linda and Debbie Danen, and his nephew Scott Danen.

He is survived by his sister Linda (Lee) DeGroot, Barb (Jeff) Utke, Pam (Jim) Dollar, and Mark (Pat) Hendricks, brothers-in-law: Mike Danen, Linda Danen, Dan(Betty) Danen, and Tim Danen, as well as many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to one of Joe’s favorite charities: Izaak Walton, Cerebral Palsy, and/or Old Glory Honor Flight.
