Joanne "Grandma Jo" G. Shimanek

March 16, 1939 — August 27, 2019

Joanne “Grandma Jo” G. Shimanek, 80, Denmark, WI entered her heavenly home on August 27th, 2019 with her loving family at her side.
Joanne was born on March 16, 1939 in Denmark, WI, to the late Walter and Gladys (Yeager) Radue. She was a lifelong member of Christ Lutheran Church, Denmark, WI. After graduating Denmark high school in 1956, she married the love of her life, Myron Shimanek on July 23, 1960. They spent 59 wonderful years together raising their 2 sons, Steve and Brian.
Joanne had many years in the banking business at the Badger State Bank, Valley Bank and Denmark State Bank. After retiring, she truly enjoyed working at Loving Arms Daycare and the Bellin Hospital Gift Shop.
She would not miss any of her grandchildren or great-granddaughters games, dances, etc. She was always there to cheer them on.
She was an amazing cook and baker, everyone especially enjoyed her brownie truffle, Rice Krispie roll ups (which she was famous for) and ghost cookies.
Joanne is survived by her husband, Myron; sons, Steve (Robin) and Brian (Sharon) Shimanek; grandchildren, Brittany (Adam) Brouchoud, Josh (Sarah ) Shimanek, Ashley Shimanek, Holly (special friend Dylan) Shimanek; great-granddaughters, Lily, Hailey, and Landyn Brouchoud; sister, Audrey Reckelberg; sister-in-law, Joyce Shimanek; special friend, Mary Jane; and her BFF, Audrey Knuth; and many nephews, nieces, and nieces-in-law.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Gladys Radue; Myron’s parents, Peter and Antonia Shimanek; sister, Elaine Krueger; brothers-in-law, Fritz Reckelberg, August Krueger, and Alvin Shimanek; sister-in-law, Marcella Shimanek; and special friend, Marcella Drab.
Joanne was loved by so many and touched so many lives. She was an amazing, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend and person. She always had a shoulder to lean on. She was always smiling (a comment was made “did she ever got mad”). She will be missed by everyone who knew her.
