Joan Arts

Joan Elaine (Van Remortel) Arts, age 64 of DePere passed away very suddenly on Monday, June 17, 2019. Joan was born on January 8, 1955 to the late Celeste (De Grand) and Anthony Van Remortel.

Reading the many comments from Joan’s family and friends, a theme runs throughout. She was kind, loving, giving and willing to help when help was needed. An independent spirit looking for adventure.

Joan is survived by daughter Aimee (Madison), son Marshall and granddaughter Asteya (Green Bay); loving partner Dave Duffey. She is further survived by brothers and sisters: Mary Louise De Grand (De Pere), John (Kim) Van Remortel (De Pere), Pete (Deb) Van Remortel (Greenville), Julie (Greg) Scheer (DePere), Kathy (Mike Beaumia) Van Remortel (Freedom), Paul (Marina Lohkamp) Van Remortel (DePere) and Barb (Jeff) White (Shoreline, WA). Joan is also survived by her aunt Renee De Grand, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews as well as cousins. She will also be missed by many close friends, especially Deb Arts.

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandson Calvin and sister-in-law Teresa Van Remortel.

Joan loved spending time with her granddaughter Asteya, tending her flower gardens, enjoying Bruce Springsteen and Joe Bonamassa concerts and local music venues. She was able to attend the recent Paul McCartney concert in Green Bay. She travelled to Colorado, New York (to see Bruce) and Washington and loved the great outdoors camping with Mary Jo Ley on her land up north.
