Jim Busche

September 13, 1968 — April 24, 2024

Sobieski - “Nothing but a breath — a comma — separates life from life everlasting.”

Jim Busche passed away unexpectedly at his home on April 24, 2024 of natural causes.

Do you know who the leading scorer for the Jaguar Varsity Hockey team during tryouts was?

Jim does. (On-going family joke)

Jim was born September 13, 1968. He was a 1987 graduate of Ashwaubenon High School and later earned his Bachelor’s of science in business from University of Wisconsin Stevens Point. Jim grew up in Ashwaubenon with the greatest neighbors and friends. He would tell you how he “dominated” in baseball, football and fishing. His sharp sense of style was honored on “Jim Busche Day” at Ashwaubenon High School when students and teachers dressed in sweatpants, t-shirts, and flannels.

Jim began his business, Local Boy Lawn Care after graduating college where he worked until February of 2003 when he sustained a life altering snowboarding accident, leaving him with a traumatic brain injury. Jim loved good music, could write lyrics off the top of his head, “mind box” and could belt out a random tune like no other. He had an amazing imagination and sense of humor. He brought laughter and a positive vibe to everyone he encountered. He would share a joke or regale you with a story about his greatness and you would laugh until you cried. He had a sense of gratefulness and never complained about all of the things his brain injury took away. He always pointed out the positives even when they were hard to find.

Jim is survived by his children, Talia and Lilith, his fur children, Yeti and Izzy, his mother, Mary Jean, siblings, Jeannine (Dan) Devroy and Colleen Busche. Jim is also survived by his niece and nephews, Logan, Marlee, Aaron, and Austin Devroy. He was lucky enough to have a fur nephew, Reagan, who became his buddy as of recently. Jim is further survived by his best friend and fishing buddy, Bob Dethloff and the mother of his children, Cassandra Gorgati. Additional survivors include; aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Jim was preceded in death by his father, LeRoy Busche, and his grandparents, Lawrence and Raeburn Busche and John and Bernice Pokorny.

Visitation will be Thursday May 2, 2024 from 3:00-5:00 with a prayer service to follow at Cotter Funeral home in De Pere. Jim would love it if everyone wore their favorite flannel or t-shirt to his service as these were a staple in his closet.
