Jerome Vogel

Jerome (Jerry) Vogel, 85, Denmark, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2023 at Bellin Hospital. He was born June 1, 1938 in Manitowoc to Frank and Mary (Braun) Vogel. He grew up in Tisch Mills on a dairy farm and graduated from Mishicot High School. On July 8, 1961 he married Mary Ann Wessley in Stangelville. Together they raised 6 children. Jerry was a loving husband and father. He was a hard worker who exemplified the importance of work ethic to his family. His mechanical skills were second to none. Over the years, he used these skills while working at Rabas Implement, Bay West Paper, and Milprint. He also enjoyed being a hobby farmer, playing golf, cooking, baking, gardening, Packer games, watching his grandkids’ sporting events, and Friday night fish that was accompanied by a few Manhattans. He had strong Catholic values, which strengthened with age.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary, their children, Brenda (Glenn) Steinhorst, Greg Vogel, Jeff (Sue) Vogel, Tom (Denise) Vogel, Steve (Patti) Vogel, Linda (Gerard) Deprez; 13 Grandchildren, Renae (Mark) Freund, Michael (Laura) Steinhorst, Tiffany Vogel, Corissa (Paul) Gehrke, Jessica Vogel, Jacob Vogel, Nathan Vogel, Evan Vogel, Lashawna Vogel, Elisha Vogel, Ashley (PJ) Brocker, Owen Deprez, Alayna Deprez; 7 Great-grandchildren, Matthew, Bradley, Jacob, Vivian, Madelyn, Jackson, Gloria. 2 Sisters and 1 brother, Marie Ourada, Dorothy Monka, Vincent (Arlene) Vogel. Brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, Rodney (Betty) Wessley, Norbert (Linda) Wessely, Carol Charney, Pat (Bernie) Haen, Paula (Steven) Willis and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Mary Vogel; parents-in-law, Joseph Wessley, Edwin and Naomi (Wessley) Reinke; brothers, Leonard (Louise) Vogel, Frank (Joan) Vogel, Robert Vogel; sister, Bernadine (Jerry) Parizek; Brother-in-laws, Richard Ourada, Eugene Charney; nephews David Ourada, Gary Ourada; nieces, Susan and Sandra Ourada.

Family and friends may gather on Monday, August 28, 2023 at Cotter Funeral Home, 536 County Road R, Denmark, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at All Saints Catholic Church, 145 St. Claude St, Denmark, from 12:00 pm to 1:45 pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 pm with Fr. Xavier Amirtham, O.Praem officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
