Jeffrey Merwyn Sorensen

Jeffrey Merwyn Sorensen, 65, formerly of De Pere, WI, passed away unexpectedly Monday, July 9, 2018 at his home in Arlington, TX. He was born July 16, 1952 in Weyauwega, WI, son of Helen (Rasmussen) and the late Merwyn Sorensen. Jeff graduated from De Pere High School in 1970 and obtained his undergraduate and master degrees from the University of Wisconsin La Crosse.

Jeff worked in Student Affairs at the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA), positively impacting many students and colleagues. After 38 years of service, he retired as Assistant Vice President of Student Affairs in August 2015. A Celebration of Life tribute was held in his honor at UTA on July 17. Outside of work, Jeff loved playing golf and enjoyed card games with family and friends. An avid sports fan, he supported the Packers, Brewers, Badgers, Mavericks and Rangers.

Jeff will be deeply missed by his wife, Mardie; children Samantha and Scott; mother, Helen; sisters Sharon (Tim Kill) Phillips Kill and Debra (Mark) Martin; nieces Shelley (Scott) Gifford, Kelley (Ryan) Nicholson and Katey Martin; nephew Jaime (Lisa) Phillips; and great-niece Sydney Gifford. He was preceded in death by his father.

Family and friends may call Friday, August 17, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. until the Celebration of Life service at 12:00 noon at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave., De Pere. Interment will be in Mt.
