Jeanne Marie Baugnet

Jeanne Marie Baugnet, 92, of De Pere and formerly of Crandon, passed away February 24 with her loving family by her side. The daughter of the late William and Anne (Larsen) Daanen, Jeanne was born July 18, 1931 in Green Bay. She married Donald Baugnet on May 10, 1952 at St. Mary Catholic Church in De Pere. She was an active homemaker and did upholstery work at home so she could be with her children each day. She was active with the De Pere Ice Recreation Board, serving as secretary of the De Pere Hockey Club for many years. Jeanne served on the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women from 2000-2007. She also volunteered for Meals On Wheels, and used her excellent sewing skills to make hundreds of stuffed teddy bears in all colors and sizes for the De Pere Fire Department. The teddy bears were given to injured children when they were transported by the De Pere Rescue Squad, often driven by her son Joe. Jeanne and her loving husband Don of 45 years built a total of six homes in De Pere. They retired to Roberts Lake outside of Crandon, Wisconsin. Jeanne was an active birder and participated in the Wisconsin Loon Count. While in Crandon, she was a member of St. Joseph Church. Later she returned to De Pere and was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish family. During her life, she was blessed to know the Lord, our savior, and was ever mindful of the blessing her six children were. Jeanne gave much of herself and her time to helping others find the Lord and come to know the Holy Spirit. She helped to change a multitude of lives, including many neighbors, family and friends.

Jeanne is survived by her children: Joseph (DeeDee) Baugnet, De Pere; Julie Baugnet and Carter Clapsadle, St. Paul, MN; Mark (Julie) Baugnet, Denmark, Gerard (Julie) Baugnet, Townsend; Andy Baugnet and Martha Frey, Cooperstown, NY; and Anne (Venevib) Venci, Corinth, TX; as well as 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren, and her sister Carol (John) Vermeulen of De Pere.

She was preceded in death by her husband Donald, one grandson Nicholas, and her brothers Kenneth and Gerald Daanen.

Family and friends may visit at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Family, 1307 Lourdes Ave, De Pere, on Thursday, March 2, from 9:00am until 10:45am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am with Fr. James Baraniak, O.Praem officiating. Cotter Funeral and Cremation Care is assisting the family.
