Jeanine (Rahr) Matthews

September 19, 1932 — August 16, 2016

Jeanine Rahr-Matthews passed away peacefully after suffering from Alzheimer's on August 16, 2016. Born in Green Bay September 19th, 1932, she was the daughter of deceased Judge Raymond and Ora Rahr . Jeanine was a trail blazer for her time as she led the purchasing department at Schreiber’s Food in the 1970’s and early 1980’s, when many women didn’t hold high up positions at that time. She married the love of her life William Matthews in the mid 1980’s, who passed away in July of 2015. She was also preceded in death by her son, Steven Gross (2010). She is survived by her daughter Jenifer Gross, granddaughter Faith Marie Gross, her son Jeff (Tina) Gross, grandsons Matthew and Michael Gross, and her sister, Angela Shobe. Jeanine attended Saint Willebrord up the 8th grade and graduated from East High School. Jeanine was an excellent cook and baker, loved her animals, and loved to tend to her beautiful flower garden. She took pride in maintaining a beautiful home. Jeanine was an avid reader and usually read a book a day. Jeanine requested that there not be a funeral. Jeanine will be entombed at Fort Howard Mausoleum. Jeanine was a big believer in the Green Bay Humane Society, and for those who are willing, please make a donation to them in her name. Jeanine’s family gives great thanks to the staff at Bornemann’s Assisted Living Facility who took wonderful and loving care of her. The family would also like to extend a thank you to Unity Hospice for their great care. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
