Jean Rose Freiburger

Jean Rose Freiburger, Wrightstown, WI. passed away on Monday, December 18, 2017. She was born January 17, 1953 in New London, Wisconsin. Jean graduated from New London High School, attended the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point and graduated from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh with a bachelor's degree in nursing and psychology. Preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Cecile Freiburger, she is survived by her sisters: Mary Freiburger, Menasha, WI; Ruth Freiburger, Wrightstown, WI; Ellie Gillis (Paul), Lacrosse, WI; Ann Kuntz (Dan), St. Paul, MN; brother; Peter Freiburger (Eileen), Iron River, WI; and wonderful cockapoo, Kona Girl. Jean loved her family, and had a special place in her heart for her nieces and nephew; Laura Kotowski (Doug); Meghan Atkinson (Justin)' Claire Gillis; Emily Lewandowski (Rick); Stephen Freiburger (Madeline); Sophia Kuntz. Her grandnieces and nephew are Catherine and Charlotte Kotowski; Audrey and Gwen Lewandowski; and Milo Cohen Freiburger. She enjoyed her nursing career and worked at St Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton for more than 26 years. Jean loved traveling (France, Japan, Mexico, Hawaii, all U.S. coasts and Canada), and road trips around northern Wisconsin and the Midwest, she loved picnics, camping, hiking, and any parks on a body of water, especially the Great Lakes. She was a wonderful card/game shark and especially enjoyed playing Bridge and Scrabble, reading, and watching the Green Bay Packers, the Wisconsin Badgers, and the Milwaukee Brewers. She loved working in her yard and spending time with Kona, her dog. Our family wishes to give a special thanks to the wonderful staff of Carolina Assisted Living for the excellent care and compassion they showed Jean and us. Thank you also to Affinity Hospice and Aspira Hospice for helping Jean and us through this journey. We appreciate the love and support of friends and neighbors, especially Corrine Brewe; Jo, Ken, and Kendra Derks; Mariah and Tom Newmyer; Phyllis Johnson; Mary Anne and Ron Yahr; Bernie and Pat Vickman; Wayne Falisch; the Schaut family and other very thoughtful loved ones. A memorial mass, officiated by Father Brian Wideman will take place at St. Clare Catholic Church St. Paul Site, 437 Main Street, Wrightstown, Wisconsin on Saturday, January 6th at 11:00. Friends and family may visit at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service to celebrate the life of our favorite nurse.
