Janet Ruth Erickson Scheer, 96, De Pere, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012 at a local nursing home with her daughter Victoria by her bedside. The daughter of David and Jenny (Nelson) Erickson was born June 23, 1916 in Green Bay, WI. Janet met and married the love of her life, Robert Scheer, on Sept. 7, 1940 at the West Side Moravian Church in Green Bay. Janet was a stay at home mom who was very involved with her family, friends and church. She loved talking religion, politics (especially about the time Bill Clinton shook her hand while campaigning in Green Bay during his presidential run), history (especially Green Bay history) and the Packers. For many years, she was an active member of the First United Presbyterian Church, De Pere, bible study and PEO. She was well known for being a great cook and baker, especially her pineapple upside down cake and chocolate cake with boiled frosting. She also loved to antique and travel with Bob while he worked. In her 80’s, she toured Europe. Janet enjoyed playing the organ and piano for everyone, especially during the holidays. She was an avid bridge player and belonged to many bridge clubs. But most of all, Janet loved to talk about her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was proud of them all and what they had accomplished in their lives. Janet is survived by her 3 children: daughter, Victoria Ludwig, Kewaunee, and her family, Franz Ludwig, Erik (Janeen) Ludwig, and their children, June and Joy, Lizbeth (Anton) Wingstedt, and their children, Brittany (Jeremy) Goffard, and Jeremiah Wingstedt; daughter, Claudia Lambert, Colorado Springs, CO, and her family Hans Tyler Lambert, Egan Lambert and Micah Lambert; son, David (Nancy) Scheer, Green Bay; sister-in-law, Caroline Erickson, Virginia, and her family, Mark Erickson and Royce (Glenna) Erickson and their son, Paul; and many other cherished family and friends. Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Bob;. her brother, Paul Erickson; her brothers and sisters-in-law: Ralph and Doty Scheer, and Floyd and Ruth Scheer. Family and friends may call at Christ Alone Church, 505 E. Allouez Avenue, Green Bay, on Saturday, Dec. 8, from 11am-12pm. Funeral Service at 12 noon, at the church, with the Rev. Dr. Ted Tromble officiating. Burial of cremains will be in the West Side Moravian Cemetery. Cotter Funeral Home and Cremation Service is assisting the family.
