After high school Janet moved to Milwaukee to work as a nurse’s aid. She enjoyed her experience, and while there, she met Jim at a Halloween costume party. Not long after, Janet married James F. Janet was an active volunteer and found great pleasure volunteering at St. John’s Homeless Shelter, Love Life, Paul’s Pantry, St. John’s church, and the Historical and Antiquarian Societies. Janet was an animal lover. Along with nine children, her household usually included a dog and 2 cats. She always believed the kids when they claimed that they would take care of them.
She loved spending time at her cottage in Dyckesville, WI, entertaining family and friends and enjoying happy hours and sunsets. Her home was a welcoming place to all and as she called it “Grand Central Station.”
